From 16 July 2006, the majority of waste tyres can no longer be sent to landfill for disposal.
Anyone that produces waste tyres has a duty of care for their waste tyres, even after they leave a producers premises until they are properly recovered or disposed of. A producer should make sure they are collected by a registered waste carrier and that they recover or dispose of them properly on their behalf. If they are storing them they must do so safely so they don’t present a fire risk.
